A condemned prisoner's last meal is a customary ritual preceding execution.

A few days before their execution, death row prisoners are usually granted one “special meal”. The regulations on the meal vary from state to state, and in the United States, alcohol and cigarettes are usually not permitted.

Victor Feguer

Victor Feguer last meal on death row

Charge: Kidnap-murder

Died by hanging 15th March 1963

Victor chose to have a single olive with the pitt still in it. After his execution, the pit was found in his suit pocket. It is believed that Feguer wanted to be buried with the pit so an olive tree, which is a symbol of peace, would grow from his grave.


Aileen Wuornos

Aileen Wuornos last meal on death row

Charge: Murder

Died by lethal injection 9th October 2002

Aileen declined to have anything to eat, choosing a single cup of black coffee instead.


Ted Bundy

Died by electric chair 24th January 1989

The killer refused to eat any of his final meal – a standard-issue steak, eggs, hash browns and toast because he hadn’t picked anything.


Timothy McVeigh

Timothy McVeigh last meal on death row

Charge: Domestic Terrorism and Mass Murder

Died by lethal injection 11th June 2001

McVeigh chose a simple last meal of 2 pints of mint chocolate chip ice-cream


John Wayne Gacy

John Wayne Gacy death row last meal

Charge: Murder

Died by lethal injection 10th May 1994

Gacy went all out on his gluttonous last meal which consisted of a dozen deep-fried shrimp, a bucket of KFC’s original recipe chicken, French fries, a pound of strawberries, and a bottle of diet Coke.


Allen Lee “Tiny” Davis

Charge: Robbery and Murder

Died by electric chair 8th July 1999

For his last meal, Davis requested lobster tail, fried potatoes, half a pound of fried shrimp, six ounces of fried clams, half a loaf of garlic bread, and 32 ounces of A&W root beer.


Ricky Ray Rector

Died by lethal injection 24th January 1992

Rector’s last meal request was steak, fried chicken, cherry Kool-Aid, and pecan pie. On the day of his execution, Rector left the pecan pie on the side and told the officers that he was “saving it for later”.


Thomas J Grasso

Died by lethal injection 20th March 1995

Grasso’s massive last meal consisted of two dozen mussels, two dozen clams, a half-dozen spare ribs, a double cheeseburger from Burger King, two strawberry milkshakes, half a pumpkin pie, strawberries, and a can of SpaghettiOs with meatballs. He got everything he asked for, but the prison cook used spaghetti instead of SpaghettiOs.

Grasso’s last words, issued in a statement before his execution, were: “I did not get my SpaghettiOs, I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this”.


Ronnie Lee Gardner

Died by firing squad 18th June 2010

Gardner’s last meal was quite extravagant and consisted of steak, lobster tail, apple pie, vanilla ice cream, and 7-Up.


Christopher Eugene Brooks

Christopher Eugene Brooks last meal on death row

Charge: Murder

Died by lethal injection 21st January 2016

For his last meal, Brooks ordered a pack of peanut butter cups and a Dr. Pepper.


Lawrence Russel Brewer

Lawrence Russel Brewer last meal on death row

Charge: Murder

Died by lethal injection 21st September 2011

Brewer’s last meal request was a feast consisting of two chicken fried steaks, three fajitas, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, a pound of barbecue, a meat lover’s pizza, a bowl of fried okra, a pint of ice cream, and peanut butter fudge with nuts.

He refused to eat any of it when it was delivered which infuriated prison officials and ended the 87 year tradition of last meals in Texas
